OP here, i pirated it and its fun, doebeit I can only play it singleplayer but its good enough Don't see myself investing a lot of hours into this though, so probably won't buy it It's basically just minecraft with a survival modpack

>>44816 Do also keep in mind the game is nowhere near done yet, the number of planned additions to the smithing system alone is pretty nuts. Iirc they're adding mechanics for quenching and heat treatment, amongst a bunch of other things

>>44829 Yeah but honestly VS has been seeing way more consistent development and updates compared to Zomboid imo

It's very fun, way better than Minecraft at least for me. It has Minecraft's "Chisels and Bits" mod built into the game which means that you can chisel pretty much anything you want out of preexisting blocks. Steel tools are endgame and so can take an absurdly long amount of time to get since it's all made to be more or less realistic.

>>44840 This is an excellent summary. Honestly I feel like Vintage Story is eventually going to be a much better foundation for modding and such too, the community just isn't at the same scale as Minecraft's is yet. Some of the mods that already exist are pretty extensive projects as it is. It does have built-in modding support after all, which Minecraft still hasn't given us years later.

>>44843 Glad you agree. I'd like to see a sharty vintage story server but I honestly don't know if there'd be enough interest, it's more niche and requires more dedication than Project Zomboid and every time someone has tried to start a Zomboid server here it has died off within a month I'm pretty sure.
