why do ppl hate flatpaks? its convenient and they always work

>>30377 (OP)
they're bloated and are meant to be universal which causes a bunch of issues

It's a problem looking for a solution. It results in an app that takes up much more space while being redundant to what your system package manager offers. If the only way of getting something is flatpak (as often is the case with some shit now where its either that or compile it yourself) I'll use them, but even then I'd rather just get an appimage, stick it in some directory and be done with it

i don't know why they don't just package their apps in a zip file with all the libraries. what the fuck are flatpack and snap even for?

It's useful on Debian because you can have the newest software on a stable base if you need it
>>30384
That's what AppImages do

Flatpaks are middle ground between everything in system shared and everything contained. If you check what flatpak has installed it has installed shared runtimes with the app.

appimages dont piss me off as much but i'd still rather have everything in a directory. at least you can extract appimages easily

its mostly snca but the main points are that 1. flatpak programs consume more space than deb/aur/rpm programs and 2. finding their location can be a pain in the ass

cd ~/.var/app/

did it for you
