This thread is for Govdeals/EBay/FB/Craigslist finds and questions about them. Make sure the link (especially Facebook) has no datamining so you don't dox yourself.

This is a plasma table I'm thinking about getting but idk how I can load it onto and off a trailer. Don't these weigh a ton or more?

Fuck you for not reppying my thread, I didn't buy it

I want to make a compute cluster out of these, is that a bad idea?

You may as well disassemble it because you will need to re-calibrate and re-level if you move it anyway and it will give you an opportunity to clean everything and look for any degraded parts (wiring, bearings, motors, etc)

Are those cross-pieces sagging vertically or are they simply bowed horizontally? Can't tell by this photo. If they are vertically sagging you may as well throw them in a dumpster and cut weight, you'll have to rebuild that part

Have you ever messed with CNC before? Even like a FFF 3d-printer? That would help you get familiar with the various fundamentals, calibration, checking bearings and tracks, keeping things square and rigid, getting all your end stops and motors and controllers in order, blablabla

Sorry nusoi you posted in a DNB board that nophono ever checks and I see that auction ended already

Times almost 200 might be interesting idk I haven't built a cluster in a while

ABORT
5 megaflops x 200 is one gigaflop, which is utter shit. A current single AMD CPU is over 570 times better than this entire cluster would be

Yes I mostly do 3D printer stuff, but I've repaired plenty and have done driver upgrades and firmware mods and stuff. I don't really have the space for it right now so I'm not that bummed about it.

Cool well if you want to get one next time sounds like you'll be able to figure it out. Yeah don't try and load it all on a trailer in one piece, unless the manufacturer says you have to do that

I can't believe they are that slow. Actual ewaste if so. Those are ARM so I wonder if that is through a translation layer. The Lenovo 100e 2nd Gens have an AMD 3015e which is a little more competent but idk the split of how many of each there are. I could message the seller.

>>30204
Yeah I think they are basically phones in a laptop body, and not even very good phones. Also very little onboard RAM in each, so you'd have some bottlenecking in the cluster

4GB at about 1GB per thread isn't actually that bad. I could make code compilation work on it but yeah, probably not going to be worth what they will sell for for my purpose. They don't even come with chargers I don't think

 30207[Quote]

>>30206
Hmm perhaps, depends on how quick that reservoir fills up with memory leaks and how much overhead the networking is, but regardless I think you're right it's not worth anything

 30208[Quote]

Maybe the igpus could be put to work

 30209[Quote]

>>30208
I never looked up what it has on that front. But regardless I think that the price of the chargers and the electricity bill for all that redundant PSU and supporting hardware is going to make it way less useful than a single decent computer, or even a single mid computer

OK thanks for the advise techGOD
