I quit NixOS for Gentoo, I didn't like the flakes which are made stupidly in my opinion and also the nix as a language is terrible and debugging dotfiles or literally anything is huge pain. Best thing about nix is nix-shell which is keyed.

Ts so called "aryanware" that isn't in nixpkgs is just obscure unproductive snca. Anyways, if you really need to run something that isn't in nixpkgs and you're too special then you can use flatpaks, snap, etc. You can also use docker/podman.
