>>25029it really depends on the brand of disc. i bought some old stock 4.7gb dvds from ritek recently, and every single one of them was faulty. i have 640mb cds from 20 years ago, and those still work fine. regardless of brand quality, writable discs are less durable than the ones that are mastered industrially with molding machines. a writable disc has to be soft enough for a laser to etch the data into it - or at least that was the case. now we have M discs made out of stone that last 1000 years and optical drives with lasers powerful enough to write to them.
