You guys should try to make it based on ReactOS.

 â„–23741[Quote]

>>23703
As keyed as that would be, ReactOS barely has any support for modern hardware and that would be a big barrier even for a Sharty OS so I think that I vvill use live-build with Linux Mint as a base

Okay 'teens, I'm putting together the Linux distro and will reveal the name later, I'll probably use Github to host the various repos, is that a fine choice or should I use a different software forge?

 â„–24064[Quote]

>>23947
Use gitlab instead of (((Microsoft's github)))

 â„–24065[Quote]

>>24064
I found gitgud.io, it's existed for more than a decade and it seems like it wouldn't take down a repo for having a troonjak in it, how's that one sound?

 â„–24066[Quote]

i could test the iso on my brappad from 2014 if it comes out anytime soon

 â„–24067[Quote]

>>24065
the name makes it sound kinda gemmy, but it is literally repackaged gitlab. if we really need a gemmy git repo hoster, we would need to make our own or dig way deeper.

 â„–24081[Quote]

>>24067
It's used by a 'ki janny for his keyed fork of 4cuck's leaked code, the sharty has its own forge thoughever we know that only Quote can use it, I think my best option is to use gitgud.io and have some alternative mirrors or 'chives in case that goes wrong

 â„–24219[Quote]

>>24081
Any updates?

 â„–24248[Quote]

>>24219
I am working on it and , it's a wip o algo. I am now also using regular debian as a base instead of LMDE because the LMDE live-build configs aren't public because the Linux Mint devs are SLFs. On the bright side this encourages me to get more creative with the repo.

Hi, I'm not OP but the guy who's actually working on the thing from 24248, the Sharty distro is based on Debian and will be the first Linux distro to bundle Librewolf as default browser, this is the icon I vvill use for librewolf. I wanted to know if for the DE theme you 'teens think that the window titlebars should look very similar to the Sharty or follow the same color scheme but with a slightly more Frootiger Aerthough style?

 â„–24659[Quote]

>>24658
it should use xfce to piss off trannies

 â„–24660[Quote]

>>24659
I had been setting it up with MATE and had made a couple of customizations to it with the graphical theme being all that was left, but I'll see if I can do anything if I don't end up getting too lazy to set up the DE menus again. btw there will be multiple chud killing troon wallpapers included

 â„–24661[Quote]

among those customizations were Applications becoming [ apps ], the coal bin and bookmarks being renamed to gems or gemlinks and some other stuff if i'm not forgetting

 â„–24669[Quote]

>>24658
is there a iso to test

 â„–24690[Quote]

>>24669
I haven't really prepared the custom APT repos yet so you would probably be mighty disappointed with an ISO of the current build, but I am actively working on it

>>24735
Oh it's not based on Mint, it's based on regular Debian with modifications, I only originally planned for it to be based on Mint but like I said, Linux Mint devs are SLFs and didn't share the live-build configs so that wasn't an option
>>24740

No, Debian is a more stable base that is easier to maintain and I have already gone too deep. Variants based on other operating systems could be done in the future but this initial OS is Debian-based and that's settled

 â„–24791[Quote]

>>24775
I have an idea because I already have the kwayOS brand set up, maybe I could offer both with slightly different configurations, like different startup screens or one having regular X.org and the other having Xlibre

 â„–24792[Quote]

>>24791
gemmy idea

 â„–24794[Quote]

>>24792
The SoyGNU General Public License is GPLv3, and kwayOS and SoyOS's components are mostly GPLv2, so I could modify GPLv2 with a HWABAG clause or just use the regular GPLv2. Which do you prefer? Btw both variants of the Sharty Distro will be administered from a Kway Microsystems brand which will encourage Soyteen collaboration and be Copyright (C) 2026 The Soyteens

 â„–24806[Quote]

>>24792
Also expanding more on what I said earlier, I think that I will make kwayOS and SoyOS be nearly the same except for: kwayOS will have a Cobson startup and a Cobman-esque login jingle with X.org and systemd and a Cobson on the start button, while SoyOS will have that video the 'booru guy posted as the startup video and have Xlibre and sysVinit with a Swedejak on the start button. Both will probably fetch all their packages from the same repos, making it easy to maintain both at the same time, and aside from the differences I mentioned be nearly the same, one is not inherently gemmier than the other, it's just up to the user to pick

 â„–24807[Quote]

I also saw someone in the comments of that video suggested doctOS, personally I think that would be a great name for a Tails fork but the Kway Microsystems Operating Systems aren't SO schizo paranoid to route all traffic through Tor because if I did that the Sharty would be inaccessible, so I don't think it would fit these ones

 â„–24812[Quote]

>>24794
i know its more complicated, but why not use multiple licenses just like debian? like the SoyGNU GPLv2 and v3?

 â„–24813[Quote]

>>24794
Also, the SoyGNU site only has the equivalent of v3 the its the Affero licence which wouldnt be ideal, will we make a license then?

 â„–24814[Quote]

>>24813
>>24812
Well yeah, Debian is composed of many different packages with various licenses, this question is more for the licenses of our unique packages. Ideally we would aim to have as few licenses as possible for the various packages for the sake of consistency but there can of course be multiple and likely will be, I was more wondering if you people would prefer that the unique packages use the regular GPLv2, GPLv2 modified to be more like SoyGPL or some other license

 â„–24815[Quote]

>>24814
SoyGPL because itll make it more sharty-esque
