Hello 'teens. I have AKG k240 headphones which I love, but recently their cable was fucked up since it is quite long and was getting caught everywhere and I accidentally put a chair on it when moved it. As a result now 'phones work only with a specific cable angle or something.
Instead of buying a new pair, I want to repair 'em myself. The plan is to cut the cable where it attaches to the 'phones and to the 3.5 jack, and then solder a new cable, maybe a sturdier one.
What do I need for this? A soldering iron, solder, a new cable? Which kind of cable should I use? Are there specific ones that will provide good audio quality or something saar. Don't know shit about soldering, but it shouldn't be too complicated I think.

Should work fine, just buy a 3.5mm cable. But those really are not very good headphones past 2012, even for cheap open backs.

cables are the main weak point of headphones. If you want to solder on new ones like dat you will have to fix it into place somehow because otherwise youre just always going to rip it off. I would rather solder on some cheap aliexpress female aux and buy a seperate male to male cable. look up a youtube tutorial for ur headphones.

The cable is connected to the 'phones with some proprietary adapter that you can detach. Why would I remove that (unless I misunderstood)? I would cut off where the cable starts and solder the new 3.5mm aux cable, which I also cut off from one side.

oh I see. well its difficult to solder two cables together in a way that they wont rip apart.
