monitor size still matters though, 1080p integer scaling on a 32inch 4k monitor will have the dpi of a 32inch 1080p monitor

No. I don't notice much of a difference even when wearing glasses. Yes it's twice as many pixels, but I still think 1080p is still good.
With a 3050, 1440p is going to be slow. If you play online games then get a higher refresh rate.
