I'm trying to build a pc for the first time and this is what I picked. I don't know much about computers so this list may be terrible. Rate it

I had a budget of 1,150 USD so if you have recommendations for part changes please stay within the budget

Why AM4 (Ryzen 5000 and older) in 2025?
You should go for AM5 so that you can upgrade your CPU without needing a new mobo in future

Adding to this
This is for gaming right?
Games don't use more than 8 cores. A 9600X is not only much cheaper than a 5900X, it will also perform much better than a 5900X because it has much higher clockrates + 2 generations of IPC improvements

I just picked random stuff for a lot of these things, I didn't know about all of this. I'll change the cpu to a 9600x

If you can find a super cheap 7600X, you could consider that instead. It's close enough and you're likely going to want to replace either one in a few years anyway when the new consoles likely destroy both in single and multicore performance. Games are made for consoles first. Just a thought.

>270 dollar zen 3 processor
>air cooler
>DDR4-3200
>microatx mini case
>chinknesium power supply from a brand with a reputation for their products bursting into flames
and to top it all off a 1440p card to bottleneck it all together

I have a ryzen 7 7700 (8 core) + 9060 xt, and in some games the gpu is below 50%, while the cpu is working hard.
If you play simulation games, more cores matter

Chances are he doesn't play multicore intensive games often enough to warrant the investment. Most people would be better off in the long run if they held back on the CPU and GPU until after the next consoles come out. Once we know what they're actually capable of, it would be as simple as getting something 25% more powerful than them so you can ride out the generation as affordably as possible. Oh, and sticking to 1440p for a very long time as well. Most people can't justify shelling out the thousands of dollars that Jewish companies want from us every couple of years.
