ok underrtsnad this:

lisp itself isn't fast or well designed

howeer lisp can easily be used to generate code in languages like c or zig which will allow you to use ot to create performant code

>so why not just write in c or zig

because at compile time lisp is the most expressivly powerful language there is. it uses simple easy to understand rules to write in a close-to-school-math notation which is infinitely customizable by changing the syntax while it is running, and allows powerful high level abstractions like infinitely recursive functions.

so at compile time you can do infinitely amazing tricks that make your job as a coder and a mathematician easier

then when you learn more about how lisp works you realize you can use this as a controller for more efficent languages, and that is what most lisp users do with emacs.

>As one of the earliest programming languages, Lisp pioneered many ideas in computer science, including tree data structures, automatic storage management, dynamic typing, conditionals, higher-order functions, recursion, the self-hosting compiler, and the read–eval–print loop.
