People would just chat with randoms, every game was a chatroom. Now you have entire games dedicated to that since it doesnt happen elsewhere, like the favourite of the troons, vrchat. Compare the videos of cs:go lobbies from before discord, to playing cs2 now. You will have 1-2 people talking max, normally either callouts or the occasional slur, but that's it. And now most games will ban you for calling someone a faggot nigger as well
