People are pumping money into AI because the technology is sound and scaling is working. Since progress keeps happening, investors believe we will achieve AGI and ASI and this would lead to rediculous levels of profit. The AI labs like OpenAI and Anthropic aren't in it to make immediate profit, they are just racing towards AGI and ASI, they are burning money because winning the race is much more important than milking some extra billions now. This isn't a secret, all the lab CEOs will openly talk about how they're after AGI and ASI and that this is their goal, not making a profit.
