O algo is an internet slang phrase borrowed from Spanish meaning "or something." It originated on 4chan as part of the Meximutt meme, where it was used to mock Americans for overusing the phrase "or something" by having caricatures of Mexicans say it in broken English.
The phrase has evolved into a broader dog whistle associated with alt-right and online forum culture. It is often used ironically or to signal in-group membership among communities that mock Latinx speech patterns, frequently appearing alongside AI-generated images of Hispanic figures wearing specific forum-branded t-shirts. While literally translating to "or something," its modern usage is defined by its context as a derogatory or ironic meme rather than standard linguistic expression.
