Title: The Theoretical Hallway

Setting: Lincoln High School, outside the AP Computer Science lab. The hallway is bustling with students rushing to their next lockers, vibrant posters for the upcoming homecoming dance lining the cinderblock walls.
Characters:
• Chud: A sophomore wearing his uniform-like plain grey t-shirt, dark cargo pants, and thick, black-rimmed rectangular glasses. He carries an oversized backpack bursting with old tech manuals and keeps his eyes fixed firmly on the floor.
• Aaliyah: A junior, editor of the school literary magazine, wearing a brightly colored vintage sweater and denim jacket. She has a stack of poetry chapbooks tucked under her arm and a naturally expressive, confident presence.
[SCENE START]
Aaliyah: (Stopping directly in front of his locker, forcing him to halt) Hey. You’re the guy who re-coded the entire school library database over the weekend, right? The administration is acting like it’s a miracle, but you accidentally locked everyone out of the humanities section.
Chud: (Standing perfectly rigid, arms glued to his sides, staring at the floor three inches to the left of her sneakers) The lockouts were a necessary stabilization protocol. The humanities data packets were highly inefficient and causing massive memory leaks in the primary server array. I optimized the system for pure mathematical data. The literature archive was… cringe.
Aaliyah: (Raising an eyebrow, tapping her stack of books) Excuse me? Cringe? That "inefficient data" includes the entire school poetry archive and the digital copies of Baldwin's essays. Some of us actually read things that don't come in a .txt file, Chud.
Chud: (Adjusting his glasses with a single, quick, mechanical finger push) Text files are the ultimate form of unfiltered information exchange. Free from bloated graphic interfaces and emotional manipulation. Your "poetry" is an un-optimized distribution of syllables designed to simulate romantic validation. It is a biological distraction.
Aaliyah: (Laughing genuinely, leaning back against the neighboring locker) Wow. You really talk like that in real life, huh? I thought those forum posts people printed out from the coding club were a joke. You’re like an AI that was trained exclusively on bitter tech manifestos.
Chud: (His jaw tightens slightly, his expression remaining completely flat) The forums are the last bastion of objective, low-tier digital analysis. Mainstream high school culture is an engineered psyop to maximize social compliance through performative events like "homecoming." I am simply operating outside the grid.
Aaliyah: (Stepping half a step closer, looking at him with genuine curiosity rather than hostility) Outside the grid? You're sitting in a public high school hallway in Ohio, dressed like a background character from an old tactical simulation game. You aren't outside the grid, you're just lonely.
Chud: (Flinching imperceptibly, his eyes darting to a hallway poster before returning to the floor) Incorrect. Emotional isolation is a strategic choice to prevent resource depletion. A high-tier poster does not require interpersonal connectivity to function.
Aaliyah: (Softening her tone slightly, sliding one of her lit magazines into the outer mesh pocket of his massive backpack) Right. Keep telling yourself that. Look, I’m organizing a debate panel next Thursday for the magazine launch. The topic is "The De-humanization of Art through Modern Algorithms." I need someone who unironically thinks like a machine to argue the other side. You in?
Chud: (Maintaining his perfect 90-degree stiff posture, though his ears turn a slight shade of pink) This is a trap. An administrative setup to publicly humiliate my ideological stance in front of the standard normie student body.
Aaliyah: (Smiling, turning to walk down the hallway toward her next class) It's not a trap, it's an invitation. Thursday at three. Don't be late, and maybe wear a shirt with some actual color in it. It won't kill your digital reputation, I promise.
Chud: (Standing completely still as she walks away, staring intensely at the floor tile where she just stood, muttering beneath his breath) Highly anomalous behavior. The data did not predict this interaction. Total system confusion… imminent.
