Science instead relies on certain metaphysical presuppositions, and it interprets the world through that framework. In terms of 'proving God's existence', to even begin such a proof would require accepting a myriad of metaphysical claims about causation, logic, etc. And we do not seem to be able to prove these metaphysical claims as absolutely necessary for logic, nor have we seemed to prove that 'God' is absolutely necessary for logic. And that's not a reason NOT to believe in God, by the way, but it's also different from having proven God's existence. There are no reasons, it seems, 'from first principles', either to believe or not to believe in God.
