*sighs* Excuse me for the vent, but I need to get this off my chest… as some of you guys know, I'm the original creator of the Nophono gigafly GIF. I never expected it to blow up like it did, and I'm grateful that so many people found joy in it, but… it's… Nophono is a progressive, anticapitalist meme, through and through. Its creator (me) is gay, nonbinary, and a communist; the point of the joke was to satirize and mock things like the right having no political theory and basing their praxis off of emotional manipulation, and people deflecting or digging up cherry picked excuses to harass marginalized groups. To see it co-opted by fascists is heartbreaking to me. The point I was trying to make went completely over their heads, and it's so disquieting. It might as well be a dogwhistle at this point. It triggers me so much to see Nophono mentioned with bad-faith political statistics, or even outright hate speech. Frankly, I start quaking every time I see it. I wish I hadn't accidentally given my political enemies a tool to deflect, deny, and demean. I wish there was something I could do to combat this… monster I've created. But in the end, Nophono cares fan about that shit…
