there's a reason why western vampires are so much more memorable than eastern ones. in fact, i believe that eastern forms of western mythologies heavily undermine what the mythical creature is meant to be. things like zombies and vampires often aren't used to their full potential, often just used as a side trait to make the character stand out. it's the same way eastern animations have crazy colored hairstyles to make each character stand out. many times, the characters lack the depth and personality to make them stand out on their own.

vice versa, i dont believe western forms of eastern mythologies are very prevalent at all. very often, the western writer has enough material with the mythology on their side of the planet and they often are very successful without it. they dont need mythical creatures from the other side of the world to make a well written character and each character is memorable in their own way without extravagant hairstyles. the eastern writer, as a result is more experimental and often takes off western mythologies more since they cant make a character stand out without it. meanwhile, the western writer is more conservative and doesn't often take off eastern mythologies since they do make characters stand out.
