Video games aren't fun anymore, cartoons aren't fun anymore, and the internet isn't fun anymore. As a teenager I learned how to animate cartoons as well as how to use several game modding tools. I really thought I was going to be an professional animator when I grew up.

Well, I grew up. Animation is no longer entertaining except for a few shows. Video games feel like a complete waste of time. The mediums I spent so much time studying and learning I no longer feel any passion for. All I see is a sea of uncultured, autistic, undersocialized people propping these things up. Geek culture is not cool. It is profoundly sad.

So now, I have nothing. No interests. No passions. No drive. The things that drove me I am completely disillusioned by. I have these skills and do not want to use them for anything. I just want to live a normal life like I should've as a teenager, instead of spending my time in front of the computer.

I want to make something. A pilot, or a game, or a mod just for fun. But will it make the world a better place? Will it help me grow as a person, to spend my time further on that? No. It won't.

before the internet felt like an escape from reality, a fake dream world you go to for a while to remove yourself from the hardships of life. but now like all the ugliest things in life concentrated together into a prison for anybody who dares try to escape. its even worse made artifically more awful doing the opposite of what it meant to do in the first place. it just sucks im glad they haven't reached my dreams yet if they could they'd turn that too into nightmares

 β„–17736180[Quote]

You can't even escape it anymore. You carry it with you in your pocket, you need a smartphone to function in daily life. The internet has become a shackle. I'm glad for you they haven't ruined your dreams, whatever they may be. I yearn for the magic to come back for me.

Games are only unfun if you actually devote a good portion of your week to them. I only play maybe like three times in two weeks, and only the games I already love and cherish. But modern game industry is basically just ass with maybe like 1.5 good releases each year for the past like 8-10 years

I'm just disillusioned with the activity as a whole. I can still have some fun with them but I know I could be doing something better with my time. Hell, I could've been doing something better with my time as a kid too. I wish I never played video games, ever.

tsmt. when ur a retarded caca literally everything is kino so u play dogshit & everything feels magical. "losing the magic of gaming" is just growing up & there's nothing wrong with that. it's actually a good thing too

Everyone needs momentary respites now and then. If I'm not playing games in my free from work or college time I'm either reading or watching films. YOLO either way

That's beside social activities or other hobbies of course, but you can't devote all of your free time to things that wear you out

I mean reading about something new, or creating something. Hanging out with people. There's a million better things to do than video games. I'm not trying to judge anyone else just speaking from my own perspective.
>>17736264
True. I'm just disillusioned with the 15+ hour single player games and competitive multiplayer stuff. It just feels so meaningless.

 β„–17736473[Quote]

>>17736377
I can get behind that. Most non-productive things that used to bring me great joy when I was a kid feel pretty meaningless now. From personal experience, moderation is key. Indulging in hobbies like this will feel significantly better and more special if you spend relatively little time on them. Just try not to catch FOMO, well timed rest is just as important as doing something meaningful, otherwise you'll just ropemaxx

 β„–17736521[Quote]

>>17736473
i may be retarded but how is it a hobby if u get tired of it

 β„–17736541[Quote]

>>17736473
Thank you for the advice. Yeah, I spend very little time on them now and can enjoy it. It just used to matter to me so much more which is a little sad, but maybe that's a good thing and a sign of maturity.

i wish i was hanging out with people instead of being here. very few people have experienced true loneliness, going weeks without talking to a single person and what it does to you. or worse being around people and feeling alone. nobody who thinks its reasonable for someone to be away from people, super extroverted society people act offended if you dont want to be around them and will force you to act like them. like honestly i dont even know what im saying i dont like what the sharty has become this is just stupid. i hate this. i don't want to outside either fuck this all im gonna kill myself i would rather do that than what people want out of me

stuff like sports (I do calisthenics and skate a lot) tires your body and social events like touring bars with friends or going to movie festivals tire you mentally

Trust me I haven't had any friends in years, though I still interact with my parents because I live with them. That's it. I need to get off this fucking website. Forever. I hate the internet so much. I hate that I spent my life here. Maybe there's hope if you do the same thing cause I imagine you're somewhat similar.

I'd imagine having no social circle at all is pretty fucking painful. Despite being slightly autistic I was lucky enough to hold on to a couple of cliques (one from my home town since elementary school and one from college), but I've developed pretty messed up gastrointestinal conditions that render me confined to my home for the majority of time for the last few years. I hate talking to my friends or relatives online or via phone, therefore I only meet up and interact with friends maybe once every two weeks. I always considered myself to be the least social of all of my peers, but only after a few years of being pretty much disabled I've started to understand how simple in comparison it seems to go out and meet people, get involved in something etc. The modern world and society is a cesspit and it's arguably the worst it's ever been, but while you still can walk and talk the world is your oyster. I'm gonna be honest I haven't actively used the sharty for over two years at this point, and it is better to just get off it if you feel like imageboards are eating your time away.
Hope I didn't sound to motivationfaggy or whatever

No you are completely right and I feel bad for you. I'm sorry about your condition. Honestly a lot of problems in our society are just online or economy-related. You go outside and people are still nice. Glad you still have some friends despite it all.

They were handing out those retail/service jobs like candy a couple of years ago. I was a complete moron and quit my job at Target, where they gave me free food. Nothing I can do about it now but I really was an idiot for that. Something has to give, this shit has to change at some point. We just have to weather it.

trvke even shitty retail jobs are hard to get because the stores hire as few people as possible and the people that work there can't just find something better easily like they could a few years ago so most are staying put
the store i work at has only hired 3-4 new people this entire year and operates with as few people as possible on every level
