>>17725307The funniest part is that anime was popular enough in the late 90s and early 2000s to warrant a segment mainly focused on anime on Cartoon Network (Toonami). Teen Titans also took a ton of inspiration from anime at the time, and was massively popular. Pokemon and Dragon Ball were watched by everyone in grade school. The popularity of anime dropped a bit by the late 2000s, but went up again in the early 2010s and became normalfag fapbait by 2016. 4chan (2003) was literally never special for liking and discussing anime. In fact, the only time anime was less popular to the general public since 2000 is when Death Note was airing in North America in late 2007. So basically, 4chan has a ton of idiots who think they're intellectually superior because they liked an edgy and still fairly popular anime around the time Halo 3 and CoD Modern Warfare 1/2 released. But for a long time the people who were actually around on 4chan back then are almost completely gone and replaced by mentally ill role-players with oldfag dysphoria.
