A folding metal or even plastic table will serve you far better than a wooden one ever will. They're easier to store when not needed, easier to move both within the house and outside of it, they last longer (no water damage or splintering), and they're maybe 1/4th the cost or less of a wooden one. Same goes for chairs. Just buy a cushion if you don't like the plastic seat.

I can make a wooden table, but that's a very labor intensive process for a single individual with household tools. I'd rather just buy a folding table for $50 or something and keep it for life or beyond.
