/soy/ - Soyjaks

Okay so I'm a pretty chill mom, I think. I let my kid have his privacy, I don't snoop through his phone, I try to be the "cool parent" who understands memes and stuff. But lately my son (14M) has been acting really strange and I don't know what to do.

He keeps mentioning this thing called "Snarky Snappy" - wait, no, sometimes he calls it "Woahjack Farty"? I honestly can't keep track. He'll be on his computer and I'll hear him say stuff like "I'm on the Sharty" or "checking the Party" and I'm like… what party? Are you going to a party? He just rolls his eyes and says "normie mom" or something.

Anyway, the real problem is the language he's been using. He keeps calling himself a "chud" which I thought was like a compliment? Like "chud" sounds like "chad" or whatever? But apparently it means something else? He also calls me a "normie" all the time and says I "don't get the gems." I asked him what gems are and he just laughed and said "coal" and walked away. I'm so confused.

But here's the thing that's really bothering me - he's been saying some incredibly transphobic stuff. Like, the other day he saw a trans woman on TV and he literally said "that's a whole lot of coal" and started laughing. I asked him what that meant and he said "you wouldn't get it, normie." Then yesterday he called his cousin's non-binary friend a "tard" or something? I don't even know. He uses this weird abbreviated language where he drops the first part of words? Like he'll say "nish" for ban and "em" for gem and "oal" for coal. I tried looking it up and I think it's called "soyspeak" or something?

He also keeps saying "based" and "cringe" unironically and I'm like… sweetie, that's not how you use those words. He told me "based" means "good" and "cringe" means "bad" but then he'll say something is "based and redpilled" and I have no idea what that means either. I'm not a boomer, I'm 38. I use TikTok. I know what "heccin" and "wholesome" mean. But this is a whole other level.

I tried to have a conversation with him about respecting people's identities and he just said "OK normie" and put his headphones back on. I'm at my wit's end. I don't want to be the parent who bans the internet but I also don't want my kid turning into some hateful little gremlin.

Is this just a phase? Is "Snarky Snappy" or "Woahjack Farty" some kind of online community? I tried googling it and all I got was some weird wiki with a bunch of nonsense about "soy" and "jaks" and honestly it just made me more confused.

Please help, I'm begging you. I just want my wholesome chungus back.
