>>17519245As the clock clicks, the General grew more impatient, each passing minute he felt more and more relentless to hear what happened on the frontline, and more importantly, to chew the Captain's ass.
"This lousy bitch, if I don't see his incompetent ass in the next minute I swear…"
After a catastrophic patrol, he's been waiting for his company's captain to explain the recent failure and where he was during the initial engagement. The secretary opens the office door and peeks her head in the office, "Sir, Captain Yurick is outside."
"Bring him in.."
"Right away sir."
The General waits a minute for the Captain to come in, tapping his foot until the Captain finally comes inside.
The Captain puts his hat on the rack and salutes the general.
"Good evening sir."
The General just waves him off to sit down, he goes through some of his paperwork before beginning his sentence.
"Yesterday at 1730 hours, your company went on a recent patrol in the city with 300 men. The patrol came back with 132. And while they were getting shot at, you were drinking away at the bar. Are you fucking serious?!"
The Captain went cold, "Well uh- sir, I was with a couple of friends after their marriage and.."
"Do you think I actually care what you were doing at the bar? Do you understand how many widows you made? Orphans? All because you weren't on the company's radio net and instead partying with some fucking retards? Did you even see how many were injured and are now permanently maimed from that patrol?!" The General's knuckles began to whiten but the General tries to calm down, "We are on the verge of taking back controlled territory, the last thing I need is a casualty report saying that we are running thin on man-power. Just because I don't think you understand the enemy, you are gonna go straight into the frontline." The General finishes his rant and puts away the paperwork on his desk.
"Yes sir." The Captain swiftly leaves the office, grabbing his hat behind him. As the door closes, the General sits in silence, thinking of what needs to be changed from his original war plan. He grabs a cigarette and takes a long drag, trying to ignore the added stress from the situation.
