honestly, in the matter of few weeks ill be in art collage (im not baiting, actual art collage) and we have enforced military here, after you finish collage you have to spend 1 year in the army. if a war were to break out during this year id be drafted, which is very likely (since im in egypt and a war with ethiopia and israel is very likely to break out)

most of the time, professional artists usually don't have a bachelors in fine art and instead get the job through their portfolio
this is also the same thing for any arts too (ie acting where you don't need a degree in film or acting and instead show off your acting skills in a reel to a director to get the role)

I can stay with My family for now, but they obviously want me out of the house because they're constantly riding my ass, having me do more and more ridiculous bs for the sake of "growing my career potential/resume" or "getting ready to be an adult." sure the benefits seem okay (such as the post gi bill) at first but do you really wanna risk your life to get free college? if you get injuried, there is a 95% that the veterans affair office will fuck you over and not give you any sort of disability benefit
you can't change your mind if you join the military btw, you have to complete your contract which is 8 years the only exceptions is if you are medically or hardship discharged

My parents aren't paying any extra for my education, so it's just be saddling myself with debt and at least 2 more years of school if I wanted to try and get a bachelor's, for no guarantee that it will get me a real job. At the very least the military would put be on a somewhat respectable career path, and teach me somewhat marketable skills, and even give me a place to live, for no monetary cost. I understand that there's a certain risk of injury/death, but that seems better than living with my parents till they kick me out and/or becoming homeless.
