In China, there's a concept called Yin and Yang, meaning day/night or masculine/feminine. I've always liked this concept, the idea of both evil and good being necessary is one I exhibit in my moral philosophy.
For example, I believe natural disasters are necessary to allow for miracles, for every person who beats cancer against all odds someone should die in a fatal car crash, otherwise you get the normalization of life which is what's causing the downfall of western societies.
This practice is even found in middle eastern religions, the first to come to mind is the belief of free will. To quote the book "the city of god against the pagans" by Saint Augustine, "Those wise and learned men are enraged at our laughing at these follies; and yet, being worshippers of good and bad divinities alike, they cannot escape this dilemma about Concord and Discord: either they have neglected the worship of these goddesses, and preferred Fever and War, to whom there are shrines erected of great antiquity, or they have worshipped them, and after all Concord has abandoned them, and Discord has tempestuously hurled them into civil wars."
Augustine refers to how both Concord and Discord splits those people, of course causing a war in the temple of concord in Rome. In a sense, the transgression of Discord made up for the transgression of Concord, creating a perfect balance amongst the people, of course resulting in their deaths due to the inherent evilness of transgression.
The universe is naturally equal, an electron and a proton have the perfect charges, day and night revolve around the earth at a perfect average of 12 hours, there's two genders, man and woman both of which complement each other. For winners to exist, there's an implied requirement of a loser, such a game too is equal, you either receive stake or you give it. The economy too is designed to be equal, money cannot be created or destroyed without damaging the economy. People who defy this natural order, as shown in the west and in the older pagan societies in the seeking of happiness find destruction instead.
Therefore logically, we can conclude that morality should be based upon maintaining that equality, an act of excessive good is just as bad as an act of excessive bad regardless of how icky it may feel.
