When I get to Hell, I'm going to find the faggot who coined the term 'Comparison is the Thief of Joy' and flay him alive.
I have always loathed this stupid fucking adage with all of my heart. It's inherently loser-ish, gay, and cucked… which makes it all the more appealing to soyboys both online and in-person, evidently. Worse, it's so wide-spread that it's touted by practically everyone.
To address the premise—no, comparison itself is not the 'tHiEf oF JoY.' Comparison is the means by which joy is granted to a person, the winner, at the expense of another, the loser. Like many of Man's social facets, it is an evolutionary trait that further evolved into a social one at the onset of human cooperation and, consequently, the genesis of fundamental society. There must be a way to separate the able-bodied from the ill, the well-fed from the hungry, the competent from the incompetent… …and, most importantly, the winner from the loser.
For as long as society exists, so shall comparison. There is little sense in rebuking something which comes married to the very concept of social interaction.
Instead, comparison is the ARBITER of joy. Competition in and of itself is a zero-sum game, and in a purely one-on-one confrontation, there is only a single winner, and a single loser. When it is all said and done, the winner comes to feel validated and assured of himself and his competency, whilst the loser is forced to confront an absolute truth that—for one reason or another—he has failed and fallen short of his goals and expectations he had for himself. No matter how one chooses to view it, the loser is forced into comparison for the sake of providing context behind his loss. After all, with a purely monolithic point-of-view bereft of contrast, you lack the ability to understand fault as it may be present within any one thing.
Where that has people get uncomfortable, however, is when said contrast is displayed again and again with no improvement—and, worse, when that is a result of some inherent fault of character or ability. For instance, never will I be able to compare to some mathematical prodigy my own age, because I lack the inherent IQ to ever make sense of even a portion of what he grasps in minutes. 'Tis was an inherent condition of my being born inferior, although that's merely a single example.
In any case, direct competition between the prodigy and I will inevitably result in my loss, no matter how hard I try, and in the prodigy's success. In that moment he is validated, for he can compare himself to me and know that I am lesser than him by means of cognitive ability. Comparison has afforded him joy.
But NOOOOO, here comes I, with a novel idea—I shall entirely delude myself into believing that my loss was something to merely take on the cheek lightly while then keeping wholely to myself from now on, and that I should judge myself only based on my own perceived progress… 'comparison is the thief of joy,' after all! I, the loser, can be happy for as long as I just refuse to acknowledge my fundamental and inherent disposition to failure!
Seriously? You could at least give yourself the self-respect to try and conjure up some excuse as to why you lost or that the game itself were unfair, but instead you choose to just hide away from reality like a coward? How utterly vile…

Economically and a bit aesthetically he was a center-left dis is true but his beliefs regarding culture and societal structure were right-wing as his beliefs were very hiearchical and his economic policies and support for eugenics clearly reinforced this.
