>I'm not queer and god this scene hit me like a tonne of bricks. The film resonated with me overall, but it culminates so well here with that truly horrific feeling that you're not living the life you should have, that you've wasted your time maybe indulging in escapism and pointless obsession for too long, and that you're just going through the motions and ignoring the thing your soul is crying out for until you crack. That's not a unique experience to being trans, which is imo great for the film because it serves as a bridge of empathy for people who don't have that specific experience first hand. It's as much about being scared to fully grow up and change into the next phase of adulthood as anything else and that's a universal feeling.

>I don't think the film is pessimistic or fatalist, but it's definitely indulging that morbid "what if" that good horror should, even though the film isn't moment to moment scares or thrills. I honestly didn't expect it to get to me as hard as it did going in.
