There's a reason most institutions use them to parse how naturally intelligent a given person is, because the tests centre around seeing how well you can recognise patterns and use logic to come to conclusions. It isn't a coincidence that most established politicians and mathematicians/scientists/inventors have high IQs (generally speaking, at least 2 standard deviations above the mean), the average IQ of a doctor is in the 115-125 range, low IQ almost always goes hand in hand with intellectual disabilities like down syndrome, etc.
