i think close helmets, maximillian III's jousting armor (if not that, churburg armor), and flamberged zweihanders are cool, but if we're talking more practical then i have to say longswords due to the existence of half-sword fighting, aint nothing better than that

i should say i do own a knights templar ensemble so i completely get it, i just wish it wasnt flanderised by redditors, i do enjoy how shamelessly devoted to christ the order to my understanding was, in spite of their controversies

If you mean just medieval stuff
>Houndskull
I always liked how they look
>Morningstar
Blunt weapons are scary regardless if you have armor, you VILL be mauled to death.
>Plate/gothic era plate
Surely there must be some different types of plate armor in XIV century but I'm not aware of them so I'm gonna play it safe. But I'd also like to mention gothic era plate armor because I really like how the helmet overlaps with the mouthpiece, leaving no gap.

excellent taste, i love the almost impenetrability of the sallet and the wonderful shape of the hounskull, morningstars however are kind of a gimmick, theyre great if you can get momentum yeah but you 100% want another weapon to go with it, those spikes aint penetrating good armor, but tbf armor was kind of rare, so it can get a pass

From what I've read actually penetrating plate armor was extremely hard, swords and even spears would just deflect off it. That's why maces and war hammers were used, to just whack each other in the head to try to give the other guy a concussion. They were also known to sometimes hold their swords upside down like this since the pummel could be a better weapon than the blade it's against plate armor. Knights were often trained in wrestling and would sometimes kill each other by just tackling the other one, then pulling out their pocket knife and trying to stab the other guy in the face if they could get the visor thing down.

oh absolutely, yes, that was how it went. the pommel was namely nichely used like that in order to concuss rather than dent the armor, but the best way to do it in my eyes was to hold your sword in half sword, like the guy on the left, and try to stick the weapon into a gap, such as the armpits. from there, you lever them down, and then of course stab them wherever you can with your rondel. it's incredibly brutal and intimate shit, its scary. war hammers and the like were used like that at times yes but it was still a lot more fringe compared to the all reliable poleaxe/longsword/halberd. most fights did however just end, wrestling eachother to the floor until your muscles gave out, and then stabbing the other person in the eyes/neck/legs until they bled out.

it really forces you to realize how far we've come in terms of combat for better or for worse, and how terrifying and personal combat was ~700 years ago. these men were powerful and rich to own full armor, and were practically unstoppable gods to those without armor.

Honestly halberds are so cool, gotta be my favorite weapon. I originally discovered them cause I used one in dark souls when I was a kid geg, later found out they were actually a very effective weapon irl.

Spears and halberds are very OP, its very difficult to approach someone like that without getting stabbed. Spears never really left us since ancient times, later they returned in form of bayonets.

they can also be used as axes for cutting through burning buildings blocked up with wood, alongside having a very mean spike and many ways to hold then, you can absolutely hold it a certain way to lever a guy in armor around, halberds are what zweihanders wish they could be in 1 on 1 combat lol

maces are the tuffest weapon
