Pretty much impossible, India was so densely populated and had well established social institutions unlike Africa and Australia so the English colonial strategy was to collaborate with local lords and let them do as they wish so long as they complied with British law, there'd be no time period where they would have advanced enough weaponry to commit a large scale extermination and also have an underdeveloped and isolated enough India to where an attempt wouldn't result in an overthrow of the raj
