It's true that the internet can act as a distraction, but where would people get their right-wing media today? The truth is that the internet was a Wild West where ideas could flourish and be accessed by most people on the globe without being shut down. Right-wing media in my country continually get harassed by the state until they shut down. On paper there’s free press but not in practice. Look up "government by journalism."
