Just saw a bunch of people asking what options are actually out there after high school / college / just feeling stuck, so I figured I’d drop this here since it’s relevant.
I know the “military recruiter post” thing usually gets ignored immediately, but I actually looked into the United States Army a bit deeper recently instead of just assuming I knew what it was about, and it’s not just the stereotype people throw around online.
They’ve got a wide range of roles now that aren’t all combat-related at all. Things like IT, logistics, healthcare support, engineering, mechanics, even cybersecurity. The training is structured, and you’re basically getting paid while learning a skill that transfers into civilian jobs later. That part stood out to me more than anything.
Also worth mentioning: housing assistance, healthcare coverage, and a stable paycheck are part of the package. I get why people are skeptical, but compared to a lot of entry-level jobs right now, that kind of stability is hard to ignore if you’re trying to get on your feet.
Not saying it’s for everyone, obviously. It’s still a commitment and you should actually read the contract instead of just trusting random posts (including this one). But if someone’s scrolling and wondering what direction to take, it’s at least something worth researching instead of dismissing outright.
Anyway, just putting it out there. Do with it what you will.
