First you should go to decisions and choose medium lobbying.
Then pick the new deal focus.
You should try to rush the federal housing act then sleeping giant wakes. By the time you finish that you can mobilize your economy and then start pumping out mil factories.
For now just construct infrastructure since undisturbed isolation heavily debuffs making civ or mil factories.
A division consisting of 6 inf battalions and 1 artillery battalion including artillery, engineer and anti-air support companies should be your go to. Then you can switch to 9-2 ratio.
The rest isn't that important and the US is pretty generous when it comes to making mistakes.

Since you've never played before just try going down the focus tree and train a lot of divisions. With how much power you have with industry as america you can just spam out divisions, join the allies and win.

I never played hoi4 but I learned Victoria II by watching the first like half of a video series guide by a guy on the 'tube called FlyingDutchy, he has a guide covering hoi4 too so I'd recommend checking it out.
