>>16351933my understanding was that it first came to prominence in small rwxitter pagan circles and it then became popular on /pol/ through the montanan & then was spammed profusely by vishnu/colourjak spammers both on /pol/ and on /soy/, at which point most of the site's non-Christian userbase came to latch onto or at the very least accept it. its popularity on xitter has presumably coincided with it's growth on the sharty, although on a larger scale owing to its larger userbase, though i don't use xitter myself and this is speculation from what i've seen and heard posted here
