Because bullet hells are the highest iq genre of video games and attract exclusively 120+ iq autists.
I tried Embodiment of Scarlet Devil and it was unironically too hard even on easy.
The people who actually play touhou games aren’t the problem. Touhou just has a ridiculous amount of secondaries who want to larp as intense gamers because of the reputation danmaku possesses.
Only around 15% of touhou “fans” have played an actual 2hu game and around 3% of those have actually beaten any on lunatic
