Unless if your actually Russian, joining the Russian army is a death sentence and not in a good way. You get 2 weeks of training and then your thrown into the meatgrinder head first, your going to get killed while running for your life from a kamikaze drone, if you by some miracle survive you'll be executed.
On the other hand joining the Ukranian Foreign Legion (if your Western) means not only will you be spared from being on the frontline but you'll probably get better training and a generally better chance of living while also suffering through all the "near-death experiences".
Overall if your thinking of joining dont join for 3 years, join for a couple of months.
