Sometimes I realize how sad my situation really is. I was talking with some people at my college that I was relatively friendly with, we talk with eachother in our classes and they genuinely like my presence. I remember them commenting on how I'm basically the odd one out of the 4 of us, nobody seems to really know who I am or any of my interests. Someone even asked if I just transferred to the college(I hadn't, I've been here for 2 years). They asked me if I had any friends here and I told them I didn't. They asked who I talked with and I mentioned talking online. I told them my online friendships are deeper than my irl ones and one of them said that was sad. And it really is. I have 6 contacts on my phone, half of those are family members.

The worst part is that these aren't your archetypal chads. These people were also nerds, probably spergs or some other mental condition. And even they have actual friends and connections, the least contacts one of them had was 50. I'm completely incapable of establishing actual human connections. I can joke around with people for a few hours but I can never form long term relationships. I just don't get it. Where do they all get the time for it? All the interaction they seem to have. It's like there's some secret social club everyone else is in that I just have no clue exists.

I think I have mostly come to peace with this. I've accepted that I'm not really capable of having social relations and at this point I don't care. I'm happy alone and I simply lack the energy to maintain long term relationships. I've looked into potential having schizoid personality disorder, a lot of my behavior aligns well with it. I vastly prefer interaction online, I'm just not built to have irl friends.

i’ve been in your exact shoes. it might sound a bit clichΓ©, but things really do shift when you least expect it.
i used to be the quiet, awkward kid in class, eating lunch alone every day with zero friends. then i changed school, started smoking and got on zoloft. i was still the akward one, but i was more self-confident, and my social anxiety almost completely vanished.

one day in the school smoking area, i walked up to a packed bench and asked a group of girls if i could sit down since it was the only spot left. they gave me a weird look and laughed, but i honestly didn't care. my old self would have been totally crushed and spiral into self-hatred for days. but, i just moved on.

ffw to now i've made 4 good friends and started dating a girl. i naturally became more outgoing simply because i stopped worrying about everyone else's opinion. what actually draws people in is pure authenticity. when you stop performing and just own who you are, you inevitably attract the people who actually fit your vibe.

This is not a real disorder. It's just a collection of symptoms that were grouped together and labeled as a disease.

Honestly I'm the same way. The main cause is probably just how you were raised. Kids who have absentee/neglectful parents learn at an early age to be independent, and to avoid forming bonds that would make them rely on another person. Which as an adult produces behavior that looks extremely closed off, and makes a person emotionally detached from the people around them.

with the bench situation they laughed at you because you asked their permission. if you'd just sit down without a word they wouldn't percieve you as a submissive loser.

My parents weren't the most neglectful but yeah they weren't that great. They were pretty old when they had me so they lacked the energy to raise me a lot, my dad was always at work and my mom got annoyed with me easily. They never harmed me but I did spend a disturbing long portion of my childhood alone. It got even worse as I grew older, my parents were even more exhausted now and I had become an incredibly private and reserved person who didn't like interacting with them. I've noticed that I just lack the same desire for social popularity that other people have. I don't want to bother with constantly messaging people, I don't want to use instagoy to post all about my life, I just don't really feel like I can connect with people. At this point I'm not sure if I even want to
