Or start with Homer and just read fiction because stories reveal more about philosophy and humanity than do dedicated austismo philosophical treatises.

How deep do you want to go and what's your reading level? how fast do you finish books?

For schizo stuff try Evola, for something useful try Voltaire. To understand the Chinese read Confucius.

It's going to be a painful read if you are not into that sort of stuff, so make sure you got a chasher book with you, something fun to read when you get sick of that bullshit.

I am ESL. I wouldn't really call my English skills proficient enough but I'm getting there. Obviously I can read books in my mother tongue which is ideal since it isn't obscure (therefore many translations) and I'm quite proficient at it.
I can finish a 300 page book in a day if I like it (about 5-6 hours of reading IIRC). Albeit it's been a long while since I've read a book. If I don't like the book I'm reading it can take a few weeks to a month for me to finish it. Since it'll be my first time delving in such a topic, I will struggle with new philosophical concepts.

Instead of reading shit nophono cares about from greek commiejartypederasts and depressed autistic g*rmans take some time out of your day to think about the life you're living. what you're doing and why you're doing it. Maybe keep a journal. Just practice articulating your thoughts and feelings so that you might study them.

Philosophy isn't really that hard tbh, most of the popular stuff is just for npcs that want someone else to think for them and to appear """"smart"""" and """thoughtful""" by taking the easy route of gargling and regurgitating the thought-seed of another man (gay) that they found between the suspiciously stained and crusty pages of a secondhand book they read two chapters of before going back on tungtock to consoom more thoughtslop instead of thinking for themselves. Half the shit in there you have already absorbed by way of cultural osmosis and/or you have already thought of yourself but can't articulate what it is you're thinking.

Not to say it is completely useless as there will be some ideas that you haven't heard before, but if you want to prevent your philosophy from becoming incestuous you can just ask other people about things and listen to their opinions about them, or just read books in general. I suppose it can be useful if you want to try and understand in an abstract way how another culture thinks, but the only way to truly understand, say, a chinaman is to become him and live as he does where he does. Otherwise, it would be like trying to grasp how modern churches work and what it's like to attend them by reading the bible. Abstract knowledge is only useful as a primer before gaining its experiential equivalent, i.e. the difference between intelligence and wisdom. A true philosopher need not be intelligent, just wise in his own ways.

TL;DR, read the first paragraph, and take great care to not speak with the stiff tongues of dead men; use the one God gave you.

personally i was going to read into philosophers but if you just stare at a wall and think you can come to your own conclusions, and it will be much more rewarding and solid then just reading some old guys thoughts, not that there isnt anything to gain from them but none the less you can probably come up with same conclusions if u just think hard enough about life
