I have frequently pushed myself into various social settings over the years, but unfortunately, things do not seem to improve.

Yeah. Know many people who are really autistic with a good friend circle and a partner. Know just as many lonely ones too. It's just about not being a little socially avoidant sperg that freaks out about social interactions.
