>>91543 (OP)My (boomer) father is pretty much the same since he spends almost all of his free time reclined in his chair in the living room with his phone held awkwardly in front of his face, scrolling through Facebook or sending paragraphs to people on WhatsApp with the football on the television in the background, blasting loudly for ambience regardless of if he likes the team or not. It's sort of funny because he used to get a bit annoyed with me for spending all of my time on my computer when he's essentially the same with his phone and the TV, but I think now he's realized that we're both in the same boat in the sense we have basically no hobbies, skills or worthwhile interests and we're just sort of enduring our mediocre lives until we're permitted to slip off this mortal coil. I could pretend like there's something a lot more noble about posting on imageboards than scrolling on Facebook, but there isn't really.
