Either way there is no used holding on to stuff, like hoarding or having to journal everything. I inherited a similar obsession from my dad, who collects magnets from every place we go, takes pictures of everything, makes picture books, make home videos of stuff we’ve done, and writes his little life chronicle. Not joking it’s insane.
I’m trying to break this autistic impulse (which is probably founded on the fear of the nihilistic void and a need to prove to the universe you existed in a meaningful way), so you should also just let yourself forget things because you aren’t the main character in a narrative, and you must live your life more presently.
