Because "self-improvement" is too often labelled as something you do to get girls or acquire status and so on, when in actuality it should ALWAYS FIRST AND FOREMOST be for yourself and yourself alone. Hence why labelling it as something you do for external validation often leaves people miserable or feeling unfulfilled with their goals or achievements because many of the people preaching self improvement want you to think its for external validation so when you don't get that validation (or it is shallow) you come back and buy more of their stuff. It's for yourself so good on you for realising you were doing it for others. But you should really do some kind of stuff for yourself, you just need to find it within you and you alone.

i do the nice clothes part for myself, but i haven't gotten a haircut since the start of 2024 when i came to this realization, nor have i been to the gym. i do martial arts for myself, but i don't even know what trt is.
