It goes beyond that, I get incredibly frustrated when people, and some family members in particular, ask about my life plans (either short term, or long term), if im happy with some new personal development (be it new job, car, house etc…) when it doesnt involve them in any way. I first explain them that I have no opinion, and they should stop bothering me,but they just keep repeating the same shit each time, and act insulted when I just lose my patience and just give the silent treatmen.
Bish, I told already I dont like this dumb small talk, stop playing the victim, you were warned.

THIS. My mom always trys to talk to me doing shit like this and it pisses me off when she gets mad and try's guilt tripping me about how I dont love her anymore when in reality i just dont care about my job.

do people (i.e members of your immediate family) actually act like this? for me, my parents usually just ask me as a matter of formality, to which i respond "it was fine", "it was busy" or "the same as it always is", and then i return the question, to which they respond with some variation of the same. sometimes they give a brief anecdote about how they went out to get lunch with their friend and then that's it.

It kinda is more like a formality, like you described, most of the time, but then you get situations where they ask why am I being so reclusive, why do I always look like im hiding something (ie I dont say, and never want to say where im going out/ or was, be it just a simple aimless drive, for a smoke, or to bang a hooker), why I never open up. And I sort of did in minor ways few times, but I just get that fish face look, where it obviously went over their head, or Im being gaslit, like its my own problem and I just need to pull myself by the bootstrap sort of thing - so yeah no shit I dont want to talk, and actively hate every time im being pressured to do so

This is what they are thinking:
