Don't worry about it that much. Yeah it sucks.
I knew two girls who never had dates to dances either. Actually many teens, guys and girls alike, don't go with someone to the dance, they just go with friends. It is really common. And a good portion of people never take someone. If you want the truth, though maybe you will resist the consolation, whomever you took to the dance is probably forgotten within a year anyway of graduating anyway.
