During the rotting periods there's this sort of "invisible wall" stopping me. Even if I want to work, my brain just refuses, same way you couldn't force yourself to touch a hot oven even if you wanted.
Most professionals have bosses, assistants (or wives) that force them through this wall. and while I have none, but thought about finding some sort of "monitoring" pal who checks that I'm actually working, but nobody does that for free long-term, and paid versions aren't an option. Therefore unless I find a practical way to get someone who does this I'm all alone at this.
Outside of this I have absolutely no more ideas to try. Any anons actually broke this boom-bust cycle? got any ideas or adice to guide?

>>102651 (OP)Get checked for ADHD/ADD. I also work on boom-bust cycles for learning and work whenever im not at the office, and that's why.
Im still looking for a solution. What i find is that most advice of 50m work 10m break sucks ass for someone with an attention deficit. It basically just breaks your concentration and work flow just when its settling in and then distracts you for a bit. If you are in a flow, keep working until you are finally bored. Why would you intentionally leave that rare occasion of pure focus?
One thing that works sometimes is changing what im doing quickly. If i have like 2 assignments for homework, do one, when you start getting distracted, change to the other.
Also it helps to be in a library/cafe. I would try to do more homework at school than at home, because im less likely to start playing vidya at school on my laptop than at home.

>>102653Also dont take meds if you do get diagnosed, its just good to know how your brain is wired so you can therefore look for studying advice more tailored to your brain
