How to stop being attached to things like vidya and switch to something else?
I don't really feel like it's something for me anymore. I have a fuck ton of gaming systems (mostly retro vidya) and everything related to it, and I do sometimes play short games and such, but it doesn't really defy me like it did when I was, say, 14 or 16 years old. I'm trying to sell some of them so I can isolate all gaming to a modded switch and focus on something more productive like music and art. I own a banjo already, so I want to learn how to play it.
How can I leave most of it behind? I don't want to remove all of it since other people my age like it (even my sister does now), but the community and such aren't for me anymore. Most modern "gamers" are goysumers and leftist soyboys who bring nothing of value to the table in my opinion.
Any advice?

Like any issue of yours, the solution needs to be found within yourself, not from the external world. However, I did have a similar upbringing and problem, and still do to a small extent, so I'll give you my anecdote. Video games target us in a way that make us feel like we are really accomplishing something. We have a favorite game for ourselves because that specific game appeals most to our cognitive needs and psychology, so ask yourself: Why do you like video games? Why do you like your favorite game? And go beyond the soying out you would do when answering that, but think about what it is about those features you listed that make you like it? For example, for somebody into some trooncore game like Deltarune, they may like it for the character designs or art direction. The same can be said for somebody that likes Skyrim, or they also really enjoy the narrative of the game. But then again, try to get to the very essence of the thing you're questioning and ask why you like that. Somebody may like Minecraft for allowing you to build your way up with endless resources to engineer any solution to any problem in the game, so naturally that hypothetical person has the interests and tendencies of a natural engineer of sorts. The difference is that the Minecraft player invests his talents and time into a void specifically designed to keep him inside forever by presenting more artificial problems inside an artificial reality, but giving the same feelings as if it were tangible and productive. The real engineer applies this thinking to real life, isn't bound by gay in-game limitations designed to waste your time, and is creating something tangible and practical. The same logic can be applied to one that enjoys narratives; the unproductive one spends his time writing goy fanfiction, weird fetish shit, or other pointless garbage like, ironically, video game narratives, that only serve to get people sucked into pointless, meaningless worlds with no proper conclusion. The productive one writes something with intent, meaning, and has all aspects of genuine literature and its traditions of whatever cultures it's inspired from.
<
Find what that talent within you is and aim it towards something practical and good. It isn't as black and white as I might of worded it, as you said you like music for example, but somebody who likes visual designs could very well be inspired to create music based off images they see, or the architect example could be one that is inspired to create music through the complex systems of musical theory and whatnot. Discover your essence and aim it towards what you desire.

Ho-LY is this a doozy, but I appreciate the effort. I'll try answering this to both make you understand my perspective and to wrap my head around it.

Trvth Supernova. Thanks for that.
>Why do you like video games?
To me gaming is a bit more than just playing games. I mostly play retro games because they are simple and fun to learn about. I know a bit about romhacking and limitations of many different systems. I actually got into music through making covers in FamiTracker (I use Furnace and ArkosTracker now). Art was always a thing I loved so I attached myself to art limitations pretty quickly. I'd say I'm an artistic individual with a lot of different ideas.
After some time, I actually got bored of retro game systems and switched to retro computers because they allow people to make things. However limited they are technologically, they are more open than plugging a game and just playing it.

My fav game (or the game I play the most now) is Worms Armageddon. If I would have to guess why I like it, I'd say:
<It's fun to plan ways to fuck with the opponent and make him lose 3 worms in one match with a well-planned kamikaze. I love fucking with people I don't like, which shouldn't be a surprise as I'm posting this to a website with a whole board dedicated to doing just that.
<The quick-game option makes each play self-contained and, well, quick. I never really liked 40+ hour open-world story driven games because they are long, confusing and seem like an annoying waste of time. This is also why I like old Atari games, retro games in general, and specifically platformers.
<Figuring out what weapon is best for the job is also part of the fun. Even if something doesn't work as planned, you have to figure out how to make it work in the end.
<I mentioned platformers, and Worms is basically a platformer with strategy elements. My best comparison would be that if HOI4 and C&C are like Forza Horizon of strategy games, Worms is Mario Kart. It's more of a party game than an actual strategy game.
<The graphics strike balance between stylish, minimal and easy to see. Good luck seeing a gray mine on a gray landscape in OG Worms! The music is also great. I even have a signed copy of the soundtrack by the composer!
<Lastly, it's not infested with troons to my knowledge and online play is relatively nice, though I don't use it all that much.
Overall, I just like simple games with simple rules and simple objectives that I can use for my advantage. I think that adding too much to something makes it shit, and if I ever choose something, I either want it to be simple, complex but understandable to dissect, or both. I like durability too, but vidya isn't really durable, is it?
I hope that this is what you meant by "getting into the essence". This is a really new thing to ponder over, but I am introspective in general, so it wasn't too hard.

The previous analogy of a Minecraft player and an engineer is very apt, but I'd like to focus on this one since it's more in line with my experiences.
Firstly, I always wanted to make something meaningful, but I don't know how I could tackle it in a way that doesn't end up into a tranny-infested propaganda device. I know it's beyond my control in a way, but I simply don't know how to start making something with actual artistic merit. I observe what others do to get an idea of what NOT to do, so I can do my own thing the best I can. Not perfect, mind you, but in a way that would make me proud. I have a very surrealist/abstract and cartoony artstyle that is very grotesque to look at, so that's why I have this very issue. Not to mention AI and other things. I am self-taught, so I don't know how to draw actually attractive humans, but I can do decent landscapes for example. If anyone is interested, I can post examples.
Secondly, I have actually met people who LIVED to consume. I'm talking about people who are useless besides knowing about TADC fan theories and the size of Hollow Knight's Hornet's tits and would kill you if you DARED to say anything negative about their precious little gay shows or vidya. The least well-adjusted specimen did not have anything else going for them. They were actual fucking losers, and I felt weird being put in this category because some teacher thought that
>Hey! These guys all love video games! Let's put them in the same group to socialize!
Which never works because I straight up don't know what the fuck they're talking about. I kind of understand what they say, but I do not understand why they care about such goyslop in particular. It all fucking sucks to me besides a few outliers.

First of all, beautifully worded. You have a way with words.
I'll try doing what you say. I don't really get myself that well (I've had an identity crisis for some time and I am indecisive), but if there's one thing I'm certain about, is that I am deeply artistically talented in almost any medium I'm willing to learn and I understand emotions well. I guess I'm flexible enough to relate to a feeling and express it in art and music, however weird the end result may be.
Professionally, I want to work with CAD design. I'm not doxxing myself, so I won't go into details like I did previously.
Thank you very much. Again, you have a way with words.

Sorry for late reply, but thanks for the compliment on my wording. I try to be concise, but sometimes I become insecure over my limited vocabulary geg. That aside though,
>I always wanted to make something meaningful, but I don't know how I could tackle it in a way that doesn't end up into a tranny-infested propaganda device.
Don't worry too much about who likes what you made. Firstly, make things for yourself as the top priority, then how it's perceived by others second. The purpose of art is to showcase what the creator felt when he sculpted it into a specific way with whatever symbols and mechanics, not how any person can interpret it. That is wrong and nonsensical despite what gay liberal art classes will tell you nowadays, because otherwise anybody could say "This piece is an allegory for muh heckin trans allies and coming out to my parents!!! o algo" and that's exactly what people do. They use art as an icon for their ideology rather than as what it is: art. The other reason you shouldn't worry is because, at the end of the day, you can't control who will like what you create like you said. Some people overcompensate by making extremely edgy art like "Omega Nigger Slayer 1488: Definitive" or some shit,. which as geggy as that can be, suffers the same issue of deviating from an artistic purpose into a dogmatic one, even if the message is admittedly more tolerable, being pandered to isn't what art should achieve.

Create what you want with whatever intent you have (assuming you have good intent), let people enjoy it, and that's that. Whatever intent you had will naturally attract those with the magnetism of your thoughts being actualized into the thing you created that you call art. Some retards could misinterpret it as something else and it won't be who you want to have, but you don't need to worry about what the delusional think. If you're worried over some community forming over what you make and having bad actors in it, then you can always make your intent clear or shun people with bad intent from trying to dogmatize people. Idk what else to say really, so I hope this helped.

You're welcome. There is no need to be insecure. Even if you have limited vocabulary, you work around that by bringing examples and describing what you want to tell. You describe things in a very nice manner, and while bold, I'd call this one of the better posts I've gotten on this site. You should be a writer with that sort of language!

It did, thank you very much. There is not much I can say on my part as well, since I agree with what you wrote

One last thing before I go, how to discover my "essence"? This is something that I've been looking for for a long time now. What should I do to find it?

 â„–101909[Quote]

Sorry for always replying late, but that's a difficult question to answer. I feel like I haven't found my own essence in full yet, so can the blind lead the blind? Maybe I do have know it without even realizing, but I can't really think of a concise answer that would fit everybody or even a general group. You just need to search deeply within yourself; try to strip away all thoughts and feelings you have about a thing and try to perceive it purely for what it is. For me, it was getting into philosophy and spirituality, and I'd argue that the journey is spiritual in nature regardless of what it entails, but you may not even realize it is. That's kind of a non-answer so I'm sorry if you're not satisfied with it, but just have the ear of understanding and listen to what your subconscious says. One thing I like to do is take magnesium before bed for more vivid dreams and try to interpret the dreams afterwards if they seem significant, so you can try that if you want, but I really do it more so out of curiosity and it isn't my primary method of insight by any means.

Sorry for the VERY late reply.
So I have to basically look inwards in an objective way (without any other opinion)? I'll try to do that as best I can. This is something I always wanted to know, so I greatly appreciate your help. Thank you once again, and I wish you the best.
