I don't really know how to start this, so I'll just write it the way it happened.
I was up later than I should've been, scrolling through soy/ out of boredom more than anything else. Nothing was happening. nothingburger threads, bait, the same three arguments niggers have every night. I almost closed the tab. I actually had my thumb on the button. Then I saw it. A thread with no title. That's not unusual by itself plenty of threads get posted with blank subject lines. What was unusual was the GET. It didn't match the board's GET. It was off by So much enough the kind of wrongness you feel before you can explain it.
I clicked it anyway. I always click the thing I shouldn't. The thread had one post. No reppeys, no bvmps, nothing under it. Just an image and a few lines of text. The image was just noise. Grey static, like a dead channel on an old TV. I sat there staring at it longer than I should have, because somewhere in that static I kept thinking I could see something else underneath it. A shape. Maybe a face, maybe just my retarded brain doing what brains do at 3 AM, filling in patterns where there aren't any.
The text under the image was short. It said I wasn't supposed to find this. Nothing else. No context, no explanation, no link anywhere else. Just that one line, sitting under a picture of nothing, in a thread that shouldn't have existed with a GET that didn't line up with anything. I did what anyone does. I refreshed the page, thinking maybe it was a janny doing usual retarded things, maybe the image would load properly the second time. Instead the whole thread was gone. Not a 404, not "thread not found" the URL just redirected back to soy index like the thread had never existed at all. I told myself it was nothing. bait, a Joon, someone's bot glitching out. I closed my laptop and tried to sleep and mostly managed it, except for the part where I kept seeing that static behind my eyes every time I blinked, like it had burned itself into me the way a bright light does when you look at it too long. I keep telling myself I'll forget about it by tomorrow.
I don't think I will.
