I find it interesting the phenomenon of the diaspora belonging to countries currently under authoritarian regimes. It's a bit heartbreaking to see that, while most of the diaspora does have legitimate reasons to hate said government and have chuddy talking points, the Western media tends to highlight their liberal personalities and elements, the ones who are as bad as the regime itself. Does a dignified iranian diaspora person want the regime to fall only for his culture to be replaced by that of foreign people and for the country to become a liberal zoghell? Of course not, the said can be said for many of Taiwan, Cuba or Venezuela, but they are always overshadowed by the liberal elements of the diaspora.

I think a lot of the problematic diaspora are people who left under a false pretense of victimhood and persecution, kind of like Amerimutts moving to Canada because Trump is a fascist or something

While persecution is a true reason for why many leave a country under an authoritarian regime, most of the time people leave simply because it is undignified to live there. Most cubans that leave to the US or another country for example, they leave because it feels horrible to endure constant shortages and blackouts, and complaining about it can get you arrested, so they just abandon it as soon as they can.
