For example, in Kerala, for 100 rupees you pay in tax, you get 65 rupees worth of development coming back to you. In Uttar Pradesh, for every 100 rupees you pay, you get back 350 rupees in return.
Despite this, Kerala has an HDI of 0.804 while in UP it's 0.648. For reference, 0.804 is around the same level of development as a country like Bosnia, while 0.648 is on the same level as Republic of Congo. And these low development regions are the most populous in India also having more children than the rest of the country, it's a few people trying to pay for many. The south has every reason to want to seperate, their states would be significantly better for it. Also notheast too (why are they even a part of india at all? Lol)
