A new study found that pigeons, tits, and dozens of other bird species across Europe tend to fly away sooner when approached by a woman. On average - about a meter earlier than when approached by a man.

The effect held regardless of clothing, height, or behavior.

The research was conducted by an international team, including Federico Morelli (University of Turin) and Daniel Blumstein (UCLA), and covered around 36 bird species across five European countries.

Researchers suggest birds might be picking up on cues like smell, gait, or body shape, but there's no clear explanation yet.
