Do you fantasise about alternate countries in your head? I fantasise about a slightly more substantial Norse settlement in Canada, where a few settle on Prince Edward Island, and as the climate cools during the start of the Little Ice Age the Greenlanders emigrate to the small outpost on PEI, increasing it's population to a sustainable level but losing contact with Europe. The population increases through a high birth rate and abundance of resources, with dense settlement on the fertile and protected PEI, and slowly fanning out across the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. When contact with Europe is restablished 250 years later, they have reverted to Odinisn and end up creating a kingdom including all of Canada and New England up to the Hudson river. The population undergoes a founder effect at the beginning, and the population stabilises with around 10% heya hoya admixture, however it's not noticeable physically and only makes them more robust.
